Stephen A. Rogers saw a lot of change during his 58 years in the news business, from the days of setting type with molten metal to the digital age.
“We’ve gone from a clunky production system to something that allows you to write a story one minute and put it online the next minute,” he said. “That’s a pretty huge change.”
Another change has come. Rogers, 78, has retired as chairman of Advance Media New York, company President Tim Kennedy announced last week. The company publishes The Post-Standard and manages its online partners, Syracuse.com and NYup.com.
For the first time in 63 years, the name of Rogers or his late father, Stephen Rogers, who preceded him as publisher, no longer appears on The Post-Standard’s masthead.
