District: Threat rumors at Auburn Junior High School not credible

The Auburn Enlarged City School District said rumors about a threat to Auburn Junior High School were investigated and found to not be credible.

District Superintendent Jeff Pirozzolo said an automated phone call was sent out to parents Friday morning saying there were rumors of a threat, the rumors were investigated and that there was "no credible threat."

Pirozzolo said that while he doesn't know all of the details of the situation, he understands a parent called junior high principal David Oliver about a student overhearing other students talking about a threat to the school.

Pirozzolo said Oliver and Vincent Carnicelli, school resource officer for the junior high, investigated the rumors and spoke to the students involved and concluded there were no credible threats.

Pirozzolo suspects the rumors were prompted by the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, Wednesday. Pirozzolo encourages anyone to let their voice be heard if they hear about threats.
