Former Ovid Mayor Leon Kelly may return to that post later this year.
Kelly was the only person to file nominating petitions for the March 20 village election by Tuesday’s deadline. He is vying to serve the remaining three years of the late David Terry’s term.
Terry died Nov. 28. He had been mayor since 2008.
A resident of South Main Street, Kelly was a two-term mayor in the 1990s, and also served as a village trustee for eight years.
Voting in Ovid is slated for noon to 9 p.m. March 20 in the 2136 Brown St. firehouse.
Meanwhile, in the village of Lodi, the only person to file nominating petitions for the March 20 election was Kyle Barnhart of West Seneca Street. Barnhart is running for the remaining three years of late village trustee Martin David’s term. David died June 10, 2017.
