DeFrancisco to make ‘special announcement’ on Tuesday about possible run for governor

State Sen. John DeFrancisco is expected to announce on Tuesday evening, whether or not he will run for governor.

His wife, Linda, posted early Sunday morning that DeFransisco will be making a "special" announcement, and they would love friends and family there to share the news.

DeFrancisco, 71, has served in Albany as a state senator from central New York for 25 years. He is also a veteran of the Syracuse Common Council and the Syracuse Board of Education. In 2017, the DeFranciscos sold their home of several decades in the Sedgwick neighborhood and moved to the Syracuse eastern suburbs, to a home with a first floor bedroom. A lifelong Republican, DeFrancisco was an early Donald Trump supporter, and 'Trump' signs in his front yard during the presidential campaign raised eyebrows.

The announcement event is set for the Holiday Inn Electronics Parkway on Tuesday at 4:45 p.m. Linda's post says "Feel free to bring a friend."
