WHEC-TV (Channel 10) reports on the various construction projects that are both planned and currently underway at Rochester Institute of Technology.
Classes have resumed are RIT and so have the construction projects.
RITs new global village is a retail and housing complex which resembles the streets of Europe. The $54-million dollar project is expected to be completed by next fall.
RIT is also developing a new academic building, called Institute Hall. College officials say the campus needs more amenities because the student population continues to grow.
Director of Campus Planning and Design James Yarrington said, "We've spent about a third of a billion dollars in the past ten years on campus improvements, and a fair chunk of that has gone into quadrangles, pathways, bikeways, amenities, if you will, that really are kind of the urbanistic glue that pulls the whole thing together."
Institute Hall is expected to open in the spring of 2012. Exciting things happening out there at RIT. Date Added: January 27th, 2010
