Resolution on Fracking in the Owasco Lake Watershed After a rally outside the Memorial City Hall in Auburn, NY calling for a moratorium on accepting waste water from natural gas drilling in the city's wastewater treatment plant followed by a one hour and ten minutes of public comment, the Auburn City Council voted unanimously for a resolution directed to Governor Cuomo and the NYS Legislature asking that hydrofracking be disallowed in the Owasco Lake watershed. (See preceding videos.) The seeming disconnect between the Council not taking action on the wasewater issue, while expressing unanimous consent for a ban on hydrofracking in the watershed follows from the belief that the fluids accepted were never from horizontally fracked wells, or from drilling in the Marcellus formation, but from 'conventional' wells.
