Date Added: 9/02/2010 Category: Local Sports Location: Syracuse Area Saturday on "The Bridge" Included in this video is a series of shots from a bike ride railfan trip to the Erie Canal Trail Overpass at CSX Chicago Line milepost 374.4, located on the border between the city of Rochester, NY and the town of Gates. Unlike most trips I take where I have a particular target train I'm trying to catch, on this day (August 7th), I was just out to take in the beautiful 70-degree weather and sunshine, a nice change from the 80 and 90-degree heat we'd been getting. And even though I wasn't expecting to see anything truly rare, nearly every train I shot was unique and interesting in some way, as the captions explain. The video kicks off with an Amtrak meet between trains 64 and 63, the east and westbound runs of the "Maple Leaf" to and from Toronto. Next up are shots of Q114, Q262, Q377, Q169, P281, L161, G345, and Q627. The westbounds are all SCREAMING under the bridge at full throttle, so you'll want to have your speakers cranked for this one! Plus, Q377 and L161 both have AC6000CWs in the lead, while G345 has an interesting pair of CP units. The video ends with a single shot of Amtrak train 281 from Pixley Road in Gates from 08/14/10. Fans of hard-working modern diesels are really going to like this one! Enjoy!
