ROBERT PLANT STILL DENIES ZEPPELIN TOUR RUMORS, PRAISES BAND'S DRUMMER

While Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page tells "Guitar World" magazine that the band's upcoming show should be the start of a bigger band reunion, frontman Robert Plant is singing a different tune to "Mojo" magazine. The vocalist continues to stand firm that next month's concert will be it for Led Zeppelin, saying, quote, "It's amazing, daunting, harrowing, beautiful -- and it's a one-night stand." Plant calls himself, Page, and bassist-keyboardist John Paul Jones "three cranky old guys," and credits drummer Jason Bonahm for drawing them together. He says Bonham -- the son of the late Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham -- is a "spectacular" musician who's very eager to put on a great show. Plant adds that Bonham seems to remember the Zeppelin's history better than he does, noting that during rehearsals the younger rocker will be, quote, "referring to particular dates and particular tours as being a way of finishing a song and I'm going, 'What, I didn't know we toured then.'"

  • Led Zeppelin is slated to headline the Ahmet Ertegun Tribute Concert, which will be the band's first full performance since John Bonham's 1980 death. The show is scheduled for London's O2 Arena on December 10th.

  • VAN HALEN, BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN EXTEND TOUR INTO 2008

Looks like Van Halen and Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band are making plans to continue touring next year. LiveDaily.com says each group is starting to roll out dates for 2008. Both bands -- which are currently on the road -- had previously indicated that more concerts were in the works. Van Halen tipped its hand by rescheduling a missed October show for late March, while Springsteen and company recently announced a new March date. As it stands, Van Halen is expected to end this year with two shows in Las Vegas in late December. After a three-week break the group will pick up its tour in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on January 22nd. Van Halen's next show is set for Los Angeles next Tuesday. Springsteen's band appears to be crafting a spring trek, presently slated to start in Buffalo, New York on March 7th. The group is almost done with its 2007 commitments. This year's portion of the tour will come to a close with two shows in Boston on Sunday and Monday. Springsteen and the E Streeters will be in Pittsburgh tonight.
