" Kreuser wins Merit Cup "
Newark Senior Megan Kreuser won the Newark Merit Cup for the 2014 academic school year during graduating ceremonies at Newark high on June 27th. The Award is given to the Newark Senior who is selected by classmates and the faculty as best representative of the school. In addition to the cup the Class of 1980 established the Merit Cup Scholarship to be given to the winner of the Cup. The cup was fist given in 1922.

" NYS Flag Flown in Honor of Waterloo Grad "
In recognition of Waterloo High School senior Charles Eshenour's appointment to the United States Naval Academy, Senator Mike Nozzolio presented him with a New York State Flag flown over the State Capitol in Charles' honor. Charles is the youngest son of Bill and Margie Eshenour of Waterloo, and is following in the footsteps of his of his two older brothers, Henry, who graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 2004 and Peter, who graduated from the United States Air Force Academy in 2005. Mary Eshenour graduated as Salutatorian and Henry and Ann Eshenour graduated as Valedictorian of their high school senior class and Clare Eshenour, who graduated in 2003, served as a legislative intern in Senator Nozzolio's Seneca Falls District Office.

" Common Milksnake "
Common Milksnake - NOT venomous! Easily identified by the white "Y" on the back of their head. These beauties do have a bit of an attitude, and are not your laid back garter-type. They will also mimic a rattle snake by vibrating their tail tip. But again, they're not venomous - so please don't hurt one - well, please don't hurt any snake! Remember "When red meets black it's a friend of Jack, when red meets yellow beware the fellow." This little poetic snippet can help you remember one difference between a venomous snake and a non-venomous snake when those colors mentioned are on the snake. Photo taken at my home, in Ontario.

" Educational Exchange "
Seneca Falls CSD hosted 38 Educational Leaders from India and 3 senior representatives from the NYS Department of Education on Thursday. The Educational Leaders were here as part of three day intensive training through the SUNY Oswego Educational Administrative Program. Along with two days of on-campus training at Oswego, they visited two school districts today. SUNY Oswego selected Seneca Falls CSD as one of the sites they wanted the Indian Educational Leaders to visit. The Indian Leaders were provided with a Leadership presentation by District Administrators. The presentation provided an overview of the District Organizational Structure, Educational Programs and Opportunities for Seneca Falls CSD students, Classroom Instruction and Skills Necessary for Success, Leadership of the Educational Changes, and Partnerships with Parents, Community Members, and Local Businesses/Agencies. Upon their arrival they were greeted in their native language by Mynderse Academy senior, Neetu Chandak (front row, center). Neetu will be attending Cornell University next fall.
