The Newark Reds varsity boys basketball team's quest for a sectional title fell short with a tough 45-41 semifinal loss to Batavia on February 25th at the Blue Cross Arena. Newark held a 28-24 halftime lead before Batavia rallied in the fourth for the win. Newark's Micah Wright is seen going to the basket here for 2 of his six points on the night. Jaymee Rosser scored 17 on the night with 13 of those in the first half. Newark ended the season 17-3.

Mia Morrison scored a game high 24 points to lead the Geneva Panthers to a 48-46 decision over the Newark Reds on Friday night at Geneva. Newark trailed 36-23 after three periods in the first round sectional game before almost pulling off the upset. Kenna Lauer led Newark with 21 points including five three pointers in the fourth period.
