While taking a walk at what is now Sampson State Park , bits and pieces of the past are visible in the deserted roads and building sites. Once used as a Naval Training station during World War II and an Air Force base during the Korean War, Sampson State Park is now over 2000 acres mostly used for hunting, camping and the marina for boating on Seneca lake. Here an old fire hydrant that remains, an echo of the past.
