The upper portion of Gannett Hill Road and Ontario County Park in South Bristol, NY, had received 14"-16" of snow in the Christmas storm, 2012. On the following Friday, December 28, 2012, freezing fog also covered the area, leaving a glistening coat of white frost on the landscape. This picture was taken late morning at the pond in Ontario County Park.

I visited Chimney Bluffs State Park on Christmas day, and it was beautiful. The water was turbid, but it was an interesting color. The bluffs were covered in snow, which contrasted with the cloud cover. It was freezing and windy, but absolutely beautiful!

" Darn Feral Cats! "
I often use a camera trap or trail cam to see what kind of wildlife is moving around when I'm not looking. I have this great spot picked out: a downed tree crossing over a small creek. My goal was to get a weasel of some species, but instead "Blackie" the feral cat keeps showing up! I have gotten a wide variety of wildlife on these cameras, so I'm still hopeful.

" SFBA Helps House of Concern "
The Seneca County House of Concern was the recipient of profits from the annual Christmas Fundraiser hosted by the Seneca Falls Business Association (SFBA) last week. This year the fundraiser was held at the Seneca Falls Visitors Center and included Basket Raffles from SFBA businesses, a donated raffle by Generations Bank, food, wine, and a live music performance by the Rick Hoyt Cool Club. The fundraiser began with a basket raffle of the five hundred dollar Money Tree donated by the Generations Bank. The Money Tree alone raised $1444 for the House of Concern. Roberta Fisher of Seneca Falls was the winner of the Money Tree raffle.

Distance Learning students, taught by South Seneca’s Gertrude Shaffer, 6-8 ELA, and fellow English Language Arts teacher Patty Parsons combined their classes to expand the learning experience with Kingsley Kabari, member of the Ogoni people from the oil rich delta near the Niger River in Nigeria, Africa. Mr. Kabari discussed with the students his plight as a refugee, what happened to his homeland, how he came to America, going to school in the states and then onto college, and the effects of large corporations regarding the influence they had on the government.
