I am glad to see that Chesapeake is doing something about this well here in Cayuga County. However it disturbs me that they allowed this well to reach this potentially dangerous condition. I have contacted them twice and to date have not received any word back from them. With the amount of corrosion evident at the surface I have to assume that this extends underground. I would appreciate being kept up to date on the plugging and abandonment plans and implementation and what specific tests are run to assure the public that this well is properly secured. A simple pressure test will not tell us the long term integrity of the well casing below ground.
