It's official... East Bayard Street Extension in Seneca Falls has a new, temporary, name. In honor of Gov. Paterson's attempt to collect taxes from the sales of cigarettes by Indian tribes, the Seneca County Board of Supervisors approved the new signs earlier this month and they passed a resolution proclaiming Tuesday, September 28th at Governor Paterson Day in Seneca County. Local Boy Scouts from Troop 2674 created a permanent base for the Youth Site marker honoring Lee and Shirley Harlan, property owners who donated their land for the Youth Fair site. Following the Schuyler Hospital Health Foundationís Celebrity Bag-a-Thon on August 5th, the Watkins Glen Walmart donated $4,000 to the Health Foundation. Funds will go toward the Foundationís 2010 Family of Friends fundraising campaign, targeted at improving women's health services at Schuyler Hospital. Walmart is a large supporter of both womenís services and childrenís services in the community. "We are so appreciative of our growing partnership with the Watkins Glen Walmart, and for their very generous support," said Jim Howell, Family of Friends Campaign Chairperson (pictured).
