In April 2009, six students enrolled in the W-FL BOCES Practical Nursing Program attended the annual Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) State Spring Conference held in Syracuse, New York. At that conference, four of the students placed in the top three in their areas of competition which qualified them to compete nationally. Patricia Davies from Marion, came in first in the state in Pharmacology Math. Christine Johnston from Webster placed 2nd in Clinical Nursing Skills. Patricia Repass from Perry placed 2nd in Medical Terminology. Carol Ludwig from Fairport placed 3rd in Pharmacology Math.

" IC Receives Grant For Arts Center "
The New York State Higher Education Capital Matching Grant Program has awarded $2,281,026 to Ithaca College for renovations to the Dillingham Center for the Performing Arts. The building primarily houses the Department of Theatre Arts and related performance, production and classroom spaces. 17 year-old Jordan Thrash and his 16 year-old sister Abigail Thrash were called heroes Wednesday after saving the life of 7 year-old Andrew Englert of Sodus. Jordan and Abigail are staff members at the Summer Recreation Program at Sodus High School. They recently saved Andrew who was choking on a dime he had swallowed.
