" Sophie Dennis Honored "
Senator Mike Nozzolio recently presented Sophie Dennis, a native of Port Byron and graduate of Dana L. West High School, with a special New York State Resolution he introduced to recognize her outstanding athletic ability and success. Sophie is a member of the Field Hockey team at William Smith College and was recently named to the 2005 Dartfish/National Field Hockey Coaches Association All-American Team for the second time.

The "Dixie Swing Project" performed to a good size crowd at the Seneca Museum on Saturday. This was part of a NYS-DEC Grant that the museum received to bring music to Seneca Fall and people into the museum for visit and a good time. At the conclusion of local elections last Tuesday, Potts was tied with Larry Brown for the post with no absentees outstanding. The election came down to a flip of the coin by the village board, Potts called heads and came up the winner.

" Straw Vote Held in SF "
Volunteers count the votes as Seneca Falls residents sent the message to the town board and Empire Biofuels that they want the $80 million dollar corn-to-ethanol plant located on the Auburn Road in Seneca Falls. The straw poll was 1,239 to 396 in favor of rezoning the property to allow the plant to be built if all the issues in an environmental impact statement can be sufficiently addressed. Spitzer told about 100 chamber members that by cutting property taxes, controlling health care costs, cutting energy costs, reforming workers compensation, and stopping frivolous lawsuits, Upstate New York will return to the robust economy it once had. As Governor Spitzer said he would enforce laws calling for Native American Tribes to pay sales tax.
