" Fire at The Crow's Nest "
An electrical fire early Sunday morning caused over $100,000 in damage to the Crow's Nest restaurant on Seneca Lake in Fayette. The fire apparently started in the basement of the building. The restaurant suffered heavy smoke and water damage. Clean-up crews are working this morning, and with the help of a portable kitchen the restaurant expects to reopen by this weekend. Seneca Falls Police are investigating the death of 25 to 30 year old white male who was found lying on the railroad tracks near Academy Square Thursday afternoon. The body was found by two village workers mowing the Veteran's Park. Seneca Falls Police Chief Fred Capozzi says the man fell from or was hit by a Finger Lakes Railway train. His identity will be released later Friday after family members are notified. An autopsy is being conducted by the Onondaga County's Medical Examiner's Office. Photo by Greg Cotterill.

From Seneca Falls they plan to go through the Oswego Canal, through the Great Lakes, down the Mississippi River to the Gulf of Mexico and down to the Keys, then to the Bahamas and home. " A Real Lunker "
Sunday was a good fishing day for 13-year old Brandon Mahr of Waterloo. He reeled in the big one to win the 26th Annual Finger Lakes Carp Derby. Brandon's winning fish tipped the scales at 29.94 pounds. Brandon also took second place with a fish weighing 29.04 pounds. A third fish-weighing 25.29 pounds-gave him sixth place too. 641-people fished in the one-day derby, they brought in 690 carp. McGraw Tower overlooks Cayuga Lake on the Cornell campus in Ithaca on Wednesday morning. Cornellians may not know every word of their alma mater's six verses, but they certainly know the tune, thanks to the 21 chimes in McGraw Tower. Student chimesmasters climb the 161 stairs to the top of the tower where they play three concerts daily.
