Senator Mike Nozzolio recently secured a $400,000.00 New York State Grant for the new Science & Technology Center Program at Camp Babcock-Hovey. " The J-Mac Bobblehead "
J-Mac's fame has gone to his head -- as in bobblehead, the popular souvenirs given out at sporting events. Last night, bobblehead dolls in the image of Jason McElwain were handed out to the first 3,000 fans who entered Rochester's Frontier Field for the minor league game between the hometown Red Wings and the Charlotte Knights. J-Mac signed bobbleheads for the fans and also threw out the first pitch. Some of the dolls are already selling on e-Bay for up to $175. The 18-year-old J-Mac, who has mild autism, became a national sensation earlier this year when he scored 20 points, including six 3-pointers, in his one and only varsity basketball game for Greece Athena High School outside Rochester.

The Cayuga Lake Scenic Byway is the route around the longest of the Finger Lakes and these signs were erected this month to let motorists know they were traveling around the lake. The project to be designated as a state scenic byway started in 1996 and in 2000 the official designation was made for roads around the lake in Seneca, Tompkins and Cayuga counties. Emerson Park is having the grand opening of the first nine holes of the Emerson Park Disc golf Course Saturday July 8, between 10:00am and 2:00pm. The Central New York Disc Golf Association (CNYDGA) will be on hand for this event. CNYDGA will be giving away free discs to the first 50 new players and Emerson Park will have a limited number of discs (misstamps) for sale for $5.00 after the free discs are gone.
