" HWS In New Orleans "
Earlier this month 14 students from Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva traveled to St. Bernard's Parish near New Orleans to help with the clean up effort follow Hurricane Katrina. The students were expecting to help rebuild but were surprised to find out how much clean up has yet to be done. William Smith Senior Vanessa Gorsuch of the Bronx, NY made the trip and took over 200 photos and recorded several hours of interviews for a radio documentary. " SLPWA Names New Director "
Seneca Lake Pure Waters Association (SLPWA) has named Carol Fitzgerald of Dundee, NY as their new Executive Director. She begins her role immediately replacing long time Executive Director Marion Balyszak who is now Director the Finger Lakes Institute.

" Seneca Chamber Annual Dinner "
Senator Mike Nozzolio recently honored the “shining stars of Seneca County” at an annual dinner tribute held by the Seneca County Chamber of Commerce. The Seneca-Cayuga ARC was selected as Seneca County’s Business of the Year for 2005 while Doris Wolf and Doctor Ken Padgett were presented with the Chamber’s Citizen of the Year Award and Lifetime Achievement Award respectively. " Visco In Court Thursday "
16-year old Patricia Lynn Visco leaves Geneva City Court with her mother Thursday morning after City Court Judge Timothy Buckley adjourned her case for two weeks so she can consult with an attorney. Visco is now charged with falsely reporting an incident. Prosecutors are recommending just probation. She was reported missing December 1st. Police issued an Amber Alert, leading to a search that included several police agencies from Western New York and Canada. Police later found Visco and 22-year-old Connor Izard at a motel outside Syracuse. Police say they met on the Internet and were planning to go to New York City. Photo by Greg Cotterill.

" Secor Reappointed Seneca Co. Manager "
Seneca County Manager Sharon Secor is congratulated by Ovid Supervisor David Dresser following her reappointment Tuesday by a unanimous vote of the Seneca County Board of Supervisors. The Supervisors first went into a 30-minute executive session before appointing Secor to the 2-year position. There apparently were some supervisors that didn't want Secor reappointed. Dresser says he will soon release information on why Secor is the right person for the manager's job.
