" House Fire in Seneca Falls "
Firefighters from Seneca Falls, Waterloo, Red Jacket, and Aurelius were called about 6:30am Friday to a house fire at 121 Cayuga Street in Seneca Falls. The home is owned by Edward Shanken and his wife. The fire burned for more than 3 hours. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. Photo by Greg Cotterill.

" Schumer in Geneva "
U.S. Senator-Charles Schumer-was the guest speaker Monday at the Geneva Chamber of Commerce lunch. Schumer told the 100 people in attendance that he's been asured the Canandaigua V.A. hospital will remain open. He also predicted the Upstate New York economy is begining a rebound lead by the fact that New York has a highly skilled workforce. Karl J. Czymmek, a Senior Extension Associate at Cornell University, was named the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) “Partner of the Year” during ceremonies recently held in Owego, N.Y.
