Hoar Frost in Northwestern Wayne County (Gallery) FingerLakes1.com - Photos by Laurie Dirkx, www.lauriedirkx.com Posted Wednesday, February 13, 2013 @ 11:28 am
Hoar frost is white ice crystal formations on exposed surfaces which can include the ground. This beautiful occurrence is dependent on frigid, clear nights when heat is lost into the open sky causing objects to become colder than the surrounding air. These photos were taken on Sunday in Ontario, on a 6 degree, brightly sunny morning.
