Canal Crawl Paddling Poverty
Join us for a day of fun on Saturday, August 20, 2016. Paddle down the Cayuga/Seneca Canal from the Waterloo Lock to the Seneca Falls Community Center to benefit the Seneca County House of Concern. Like a walk-a-thon, kayakers and canoers will be raising money by collecting donations through pledges. It is similar in format to other physical activity based fundraising events but this low intensity, non-competitive event is ideal for a variety of ages. There will be a few stops along the way for snacks and a scavenger hunt to occupy your time as you leisurely make your way down the canal. When you disembark at the Seneca Falls Recreation Center there will be a reception with food, music, awards and raffles. Finger Lakes Christian Fellowship Announces: Vacation Bible School: Proof Pirates Ahoy, Mateys! We’re looking for young lads and lassies to join us on a high-seas adventure at Proof Pirates VBS! We’ll be playing pirate games, creating buccaneer crafts, making friends and great memories - all while finding the treasure of God’s amazing grace. V.B.S. Coordinator, Kathy Martin says, “Kids today often believe that they must perform to receive God’s love. They believe that if they’re good then God will love them. If they’re bad then He will reject or punish them. At Proof Pirates, kids will learn the truth about God’s love and grace. God’s love and His grace are free gifts – no performance required. ” This epic adventure begins on Monday, July 11th and continues through Wednesday, July 13th.
