CCHS Lunch & Learn: "New York Central College: An Experiment in Education in McGrawville 1848-1860"
McGraw Historical Society President Carl Kimberly and his wife Mary, McGraw historian, will be presenting this program on this very progressive college that was established in McGraw. The concept of black education was not new in the 1850s. Today we will learn how McGrawville became involved in a college open to black and white students, male and female, and taught by both black and white professors. Canal Crawl Paddling Poverty
Join us for a day of fun on Saturday, August 20, 2016. Paddle down the Cayuga/Seneca Canal from the Waterloo Lock to the Seneca Falls Community Center to benefit the Seneca County House of Concern. Like a walk-a-thon, kayakers and canoers will be raising money by collecting donations through pledges. It is similar in format to other physical activity based fundraising events but this low intensity, non-competitive event is ideal for a variety of ages. There will be a few stops along the way for snacks and a scavenger hunt to occupy your time as you leisurely make your way down the canal. When you disembark at the Seneca Falls Recreation Center there will be a reception with food, music, awards and raffles.
