The Geneva Music Festival
The diverse cast of Geneva Music Festival musicians will be joined by Violinists Geoffrey Herd and Eliot Heaton along with UNISA International Piano Competition Laureate Christopher Janwong McKiggan for three masterpieces, concluding with the dazzling Schumann E flat major Piano Quintet. The concert benefits the Community Preservation Committee’s support and restoration of Willard Memorial Chapel. Admission is $20 per person at the door and children 18 and under are free. Tour of Homes
The Geneva Historical Society’s 2016 Tour of Homes: All Roads Lead Home, will be on Saturday, June 11, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The tour features eight private residences, the Gearan Center for the Performing Arts at Hobart and William Smith, FLCC Viticulture and Wine Center and St. Peter's Episcopal Church. Refreshments will be available at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 149 Genesee Street, on the day of the tour. The church will celebrate its 150th Anniversary in 2017 and, in conjunction with the tour, students from St. Peter’s Academy for the Arts will offer a 30 minute performance at 4:00 p.m. Tickets for the tour are $22 and will be available at Rose Hill Mansion and the Geneva Historical Society. Long Acre Farms invites you to join them for their annual “School’s Out Celebration!” This event will take place on Saturday June 25th, 2016 from 10am-4pm. We will be accepting like new household items, like glassware, kitchenware, china, quilts, linens and blanket, baby things, painting and pictures, furniture, jewelry and estate items. We will not be accepting electronics, such as TV's, computers, printers, stoves...or any exercise equipment, skis or christmas trees... Seneca Falls 2016 Memorial Day Activities
Veterans Council of Seneca Falls May 23, 2016 48 State Street Seneca Falls, NY 13148 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Year 2016 Memorial Day Activities in Seneca Falls, New York The Veterans Council of Seneca Falls is pleased to announce the Year 2016 schedule of events to celebrate Memorial Day in the Town of Seneca Falls. Flags will be placed on Veterans’ graves in the local cemeteries on Saturday, May 28th, at 9:00 AM. The public is invited to join members of local American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars in this activity. The parade will be held on Monday, May 30th, starting at 9:15 AM at the Mynderse Academy parking lot on Troy Street and proceeding to Veterans’ Park (formerly Academy Square). Marchers should report to Mark Fifield, Parade Coordinator, at 8:45 AM. The parade will be led by the Veterans of All Wars. Poppy Prince and Princess, winners of an essay contest for Seneca Falls fourth grade students on “What Memorial Day Means to Me,” are Jake Prayne and Alyssa Wu of Seneca Falls. Parade Grand Marshal will be Dominick Galusha, a resident of Seneca Falls. Galusha served with distinction with 7th Marine Regiment in the Korean War and is the recipient of two Purple Heart Awards. After his discharge from the Marines in 1954, Galusha worked in construction in the Geneva area until his retirement. A widower, his wife of 44 years, Maria, passed in 2007, he is the father of two sons, Dominick and Gerard (deceased). Ceremonies honoring the Dead of All Wars will be held at 10:00 AM in Veterans’ Park. Master of Ceremonies will be Art Evans, Past Commander of American Legion Post 366. Invocation and Benediction will be delivered by Rev. Sue Hadley of the First United Methodist Church in Seneca Falls. The Gettysburg Address will be delivered by Olivia Baxter, Senior Class President at Mynderse Academy. Keynote Speaker will be Timothy Luce, Seneca County Sheriff. A career law enforcement officer, Luce was elected Sheriff in 2015 and assumed the office on January 1, 2016. He and his wife, Kathy, reside in Waterloo, NY and are the parents of two daughters and grandparents of two. At the conclusion of the ceremonies, the public is invited for refreshments at The American Legion located at 48 State Street, provided through the courtesy of The American Legion. The VFW, located at 47 Fall Street, will also hold an open house. In case of inclement weather, the ceremonies will be held indoors at The American Legion hall. Beverly Animal Shelter 12th Annual Garage Sale
The Beverly Animal Shelter 12th Annual Garage Sale will be held this year on June 2,3,4 at Rodman Lott & Sons Farms (site of Empire Farm Days), Rt. 414, Seneca Falls, NY from 9-5. NO EARLY BIRDS! As usual, we need your donations of good, clean, sellable items for sale. We will be accepting just about all items but PLEASE, no clothing, shoes, computers or equipment, TV's, stuffed animals, or broken/chipped/non-working items as we have no disposal facilities available. You can bring items to the storage site on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. starting April 16th until sale date. At entrance to Lott's, bear left to the end, turn right on Make-A-Buck Ave., first gray building on right. Possible pickup of items within a 10 mile radius if you cannot transport them. If you have any questionable items, please call the Elsie at 315-539-3893. Drop offs at other times will be BY APPOINTMENT by calling Elsie as well This year we will have a drop off for dog and cat food and litter donations. All donations are tax deductible. Seneca Falls American Legion's 4th Annual FEED THE FUTURE project
The school year is almost over and for some children that means their days will start without breakfast. As in the past, The Seneca Falls Legion will be collecting non-perishable BREAKFAST items to be donated to the House of Concern's food pantry. This year, the Legion has challenged the VFW to a friendly competition we are calling the "CEREAL BOWL"! Beginning May 20th, the Posts will be competing for one month to see who can collect the most Breakfast items! Come out & join your local veterans' organizations in supporting our community food pantry! Items can be dropped off at either the American Legion located at 48 State Street, Seneca Falls or the VFW which is located at 47 Fall Street.
