Community Day at Rose Hill Mansion
The Geneva Historical Society will host Community Day at Rose Hill Mansion on Saturday, August 8, 2015 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. At this family-oriented event, visitors can see the house and grounds for just $5 per carload. Guides stationed throughout the building will share the story of the Swan family, especially the Swan children, and their lives at the mansion and farm. In addition, there will be a scavenger hunt in the house, old-fashioned games and activities on the lawn, and the band Fiddlesticks will be playing on the porch between 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Finally, the English Country Dancers of Rochester will perform early 19th-century English dancing on the patio from 2 to 3 p.m. with live music.

Tours will run rain or shine on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month. On Wednesday, July 8 and 22 the tour will cover Washington Street from Pulteney Park to the cemetery. Tours on Wednesday, August 12 and 26 will go from Pulteney Park down South Main Street to St. Clair Street. Each tour will start at 7 p.m. in Pulteney Park. The cost is $5 per person. This summer the Geneva Historical Society is again hosting a free concert series on the lawn at Rose Hill Mansion. For three Sundays, the grounds of Rose Hill Mansion will be alive with music and fun. Bring a picnic dinner and enjoy an evening of music to end a summer weekend in the Finger Lakes. This July and August the Geneva Historical Society will offer a new tour of the historic Rose Hill Mansion and Johnston Farm. "Up and Doin'": The Women of Rose Hill and Johnston Farms will focus on the three generations of women who lived at these farmhouses from 1822 to 1891. The tours will be 90 minutes long and will be held twice in July and August. "Up and Doin'" will be held on Thursday, July 16 and August 20 at 2 p.m. and on Saturday, July 18 and August 22 at 11 a.m. This special tour is not the same as our regular tour. $10 adults $7 members

Rose Hill After Hours - Music in the Mansion
Join the Geneva Historical Society and Billsboro Winery for Rose Hill After Hours, a history Happy Hour on the final Wednesday of the month during June, July and August. At Rose Hill After Hours, we will open up the grounds and the first floor of Rose Hill Mansion to participants and have an informal program on a different topic each month. Our final program on August 26 will feature a conversation with Historical Society curator John Marks about the music of the 19th century. 2015 WINE SYMPOSIUM OF THE FINGER LAKES An event celebrating the brilliance of Finger Lakes wines, wineries and growers New York was selected this year by Wine Enthusiast as the world’s top wine region, and its wines are increasingly being recognized for their excellence. Coming together, to celebrate the reasons why, are an impressive roster of chefs, sommeliers, wine experts and wine enthusiasts for the third annual Wine Symposium of the Finger Lakes. Scheduled for August 21-22 in downtown Geneva, NY the event is intended to showcase Finger Lakes wine country as a region that offers high quality wines. By placing them in a broader perspective against benchmark wines, presenters will demonstrate just how excellent and competitive Finger Lakes wines are, with Riesling as a case in point. The event lineup includes: •Grand Tasting-August 21 5-7:30pm Geneva Visitors’ and Events Center (Preceded by an invitation only media and trade tasting) The Grand Tasting offers consumers a chance to taste 26 award winning rieslings in one place. WATERLOO…A Vacation Bible School will be held on August 3-7 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the Ministry Center, former St. Mary’s School, 35 Center Street, for children entering kindergarten to fifth grade. 4-H Rifle/Air Rifle/Air Pistol Workshops Sundays, August 2nd and 9th from 1-6 pm and Monday, August 10th from 6-8 pm at the Branchport Rod and Gun Club. Participants must be enrolled 4-H members and be 9 year old as of January 1st of the current year to participate in Air Rifle, 10 to participate in Air Pistol, and 12 to participate in rifle. Youth should attend all 3 sessions. The cost is $15.00 for 1 youth or a family rate of $25.00 for 2 youth or $30.00 for 3 or more youth. Please sign up with the 4-H office by July 27th. Tour Historic Trinity Church
Tour historic Trinity Church, 27 Fall Street, Seneca Falls, during the "After the Falls" 100 year celebration of the creation of Van Cleef Lake and restructuring of the locks, to be held August 7 through August 20. Trinity was greatly impacted by the widening of the canal, once sitting on a high hill, and now on the edge of the water. Tours will be offered August 8, 10:00 a.m., August 9, starting at 11:00 a.m., again on August 15 and 16, and 5:00 p.m. on August 20. Both guided and self-guided tours available. Don't miss the Lady Walsingham Chapel. Refreshments will be served. Hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, water, soda, will be available on the weekends of August 8, 9, 15, 16, beginning at noon, and at 5:00 p.m. on August 20 for the grand finale, with fireworks on the lake at 9:30.
