A Seneca Falls three-year-old is safe after wandering through the Village of Waterloo, unsupervised, on Wednesday afternoon. Waterloo Police arrested Melissa Anthony, age 32 of Chapin Street in Seneca Falls, and charged her with Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
It is alleged that Anthony was at a residence in the Village of Waterloo where she was not supervising her three-year-old child who wandered across four lanes of traffic on East Main Street and then walked through the parking lot of the Sunoco Express Mart where he was nearly hit by a motor vehicle. The toddler then entered the Express Mart where clerks called the police when they discovered that the child was alone.
Waterloo Police Department arrived on the scene and took control of the child and his mother was found across the street looking for him. Anthony was arraigned in the Village of Waterloo Court before Judge Mattoon where she plead guilty. Anthony is scheduled for sentencing on July 16, 2014 in Village of Waterloo Court.
An order of protection was issued on behalf of the child.
