Clyde-Savannah holds off Lyons in C2 semis
  2/24/14 @ 11:32 pm

The Lyons-Clyde rivalry continued on Monday night on a rare stage, the Section V Class C2 semifinals, at Waterloo High School. In the end, Clyde-Savannah, who played without Upstate Hoops W-FL Player of the Year Kam DiSanto, held off a Lyons squad that was missing their leading scorer by a score of 47-43.

Joemaine Bogan scored 20, mostly on 10-12 foot jump shots he was knocking down from the foul line and baseline over the shorter Lions' defenders. Senior guard Joe Faniel pitched in 16 including two clutch free throws late to seal the victory and send Clyde-Savannah to the Blue Cross Arena for the C2 finals on Saturday afternoon.

For Lyons, senior D.J. Long scored 19 points before fouling out late and fellow senior Damien Scott had 12 in what would be their last game in a Lions uniform. Lyons ends the season with a 13-7 record after losing junior Damon Hunter to injury in late January.

With the win, the Golden Eagles improve to 20-0 on the season and will face Caledonia-Mumford on Saturday in Rochester for the Section V Class C2 Championship. Cal-Mum defeated Cuba Rushford in the other C2 semifinal game played at Letchworth on Monday night, 75-67.

FL1 Sports broadcast the game live (audio only due to Section V regulations). Jim Sinicropi and Kevin Korzeniewski had the call from Waterloo:
