Seneca Meadows, Inc. announced today that electronics recycling is up by 12 percent at their drop-off center. Community groups, homeowners and businesses utilized the free-of-charge service to unload over 47,900 pounds of electronics in 2013. In 2012, the total was just over 42,700.

“Seneca Meadows is committed to investing in our environment and our community, and the recycling drop-off program combines the two perfectly,” said Don Gentilcore, Area Manager for Seneca Meadows. “People in our community want to recycle, and offering a permanent drop-off location, close to home, makes it a little easier for them.”

Joe DeTorio, Electronics Recycling Coordinator for Seneca Meadows, also commented on the increase, “I think our neighbors are finding a real value in this free program. When they learn that we accept pretty much anything with a cord, it opens up a whole new avenue for recycling; not just for residents, but for business owners, schools and community organizations as well.”

The drop-off center, which is located near the landfill entrance on Route 414, also accepts household recyclables, rechargeable batteries and cell phones. The electronics are transported to 2trg in Geneva for secure recycling, and the cell phones are shipped to a program that benefits U.S. military personnel, entitled, Cell Phones for Soldiers.

Electronics may be dropped off on Saturdays: 6:00 – 11:30 am, and Sundays: 8:00 – 11:00 am. Household recyclables, rechargeable batteries, and cell phones may be dropped off seven days per week, Monday – Friday from 6:00 am – 4:00 pm, Saturdays from 6:00 – 11:30 am, and Sundays from 8:00 – 11:00 am.
