The Seneca County Sheriff's Office reports that on Wednesday at about 8:00 pm, Sheriff's deputies responded to 9715 Case Road in Lodi for a complaint of a subject present there for which the Sheriff's Office had warrants of arrest for.

Upon arrival, a vehicle took off from that residence at a high rate of speed and refused to stop for Deputies. Deputies continued to pursue the vehicle northbound on Route 89 for several minutes and it refused to stop until the front tires were flattened using "Stop Sticks" that the suspect vehicle ran over.

The vehicle was stopped at the intersection of Route 89 and Noble Road in the Town of Seneca Falls. The driver, Sharon L Sponaugle, age 46 of Case Road, was taken into custody at the scene.

A passenger, Brian D. Ellis, age 46 (no current address, formerly of Route 80 in Tully, NY), who was the subject of the outstanding warrants, fled the scene on foot.

Units from the Sheriff's Office were assisted by Seneca Falls police, the NYS Police and NYS Park Police and searched the area for 3 hours but were unable to locate Ellis in the heavily wooded area.

A six year old female Lodi resident who was a family member of Sponaugles was also in the vehicle during the high speed pursuit.

No one was injured and no vehicles were damaged during the pursuit.

At about noon on Thursday, Ellis was spotted by a Sheriff's Deputy on Route 96 in Romulus in a wooded area across from the Five Points Prison and was taken into custody.

Ellis was arrested on 2 warrants from the Town of Lodi court - one for Criminal Contempt in the second degree, and one for aggravated harassment in the second degree. Deputies allege that Ellis has repeatedly harassed a Lodi resident and violated an Order of protection as well.

Ellis was arraigned in the Town of Lodi Court and committed to jail on two separate commitments of $10,000 cash or $20,000 bail bond each.

Ellis was also charged with another count of Criminal Contempt 2nd , Endangering the welfare of a child and Unlawfully Fleeing a Police Officer in the third degree, and he will appear in the Town of Lodi court on November 21st at 10 am to answer all the charges.

Sponaugle was charged with Endangering the Welfare of a child and Unlawfully Fleeing a Police Officer in the third degree and was released to appear in the Town of Lodi Court on December 4th at 10:00 am.
