On Tuesday, at the Seneca County Courthouse in Waterloo, a key decision in the case against Karl Karlsen was handed down by Judge Dennis Bender.
Karlsen is the Romulus man accused of killing his 23-year-old son, Levi, in October 2012. He plead not guilty to the charges in April.
Karlsen's lawyer has been attempting to keep statements his client has made to police and to his estranged wife, Cindy Karlsen, out of court.
In Tuesday's ruling, Judge Bender decided that the defendant's motion to suppress statements made to police on November 23, 2012 and statements made to Cindy Karlsen on November 14 and 16, 2012, be denied.

In September, ABC's Good Morning America featured the case and held a panel discussion involving Nancy Grace. You can watch a video of that segment here.
