The St. Anthony Festival has become a Labor Day Weekend staple in Seneca Falls. On Friday, the event kicks off the 33rd annual edition. Thanks to the weather, this year's festival, largely unchanged since year one, will have a different look.
Due to recent heavy rainfall, the field where the amusement rides and games is usually set-up will be moved north towards Ovid Street. The rides will occupy the space normally reserved for parking. Because of this, event organizers are asking festival-goers to walk from their homes or park at a friends home withing walking distance of the SMS Field. Also, those who do drive, should expect a longer walk from their car upon arrival.
Efforts are currently being made to bring in stone, wood chips and wind fans to combat the wet conditions under and around the big tents and through the most heavily trafficked areas of the field.
Regardless of the weather, this weekend's festival is sure to deliver on the great food, music, games and fun that area residents have come to expect during the unofficial final weekend of summer in Seneca Falls.
The Festival begins on Friday evening and runs through a fireworks display on Sunday night.
