Dryden man accused of cutting woman's break lines in Venice

Sheriff David Gould reports that the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office has arrested one person in connection with a three week long investigation into the intentional cutting of a vehicle’s brake lines in the Town of Venice.

MullenOn Monday, August 21, 2013 Detectives from the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office arrested Daniel J. McMillen, age 24, of Dryden, culminating a three week long criminal investigation.

The investigation was initiated when a female resident of Cayuga County reported that she had experienced brake trouble with her vehicle the previous evening while driving in Tompkins County. The vehicle had been towed to a service facility where they examined
the vehicle and felt that the damage to the vehicle’s brake system was suspicious in nature. It was later determined through that the brake system of the victim’s vehicle had been intentionally tampered with on two separate occasions.

McMillen was charged with Reckless Endangerment in the First Degree and Criminal Mischief in the Third Degree. He was arraigned in the Town of Aurelius Court where he was released pending further court action.
