Man shot dead in Town of Waterloo home

The Seneca County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting death in the Town of Waterloo that occurred in the early morning hours on Sunday on Hecker Road.

Deputies say they found a 61-year-old man at 827 Hecker Road shot in the stomach shortly around 3:00 am on Sunday morning. The victim was taken by North Seneca Ambulance to Geneva General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

At this time, the shooter remains at-large.

According to one source, police believe the shooting may be drug related.

New York State Police and Waterloo Village Police are assisting the Seneca County Sheriff's Department in the murder investigation.

UPDATE: 8:48 PM on 6/23/13

According to FL News Radio Seneca County Sheriff Jack Stenburg believe the shooting was not random and neighbors should not worry about being in any danger. No suspects are in custody.

The Seneca County Sheriff's Department has released the name of the victim of Sunday morning's shooting in Waterloo.

William Kenny, age 61, the sole occupant of the Hecker Road residence was found in a bedroom suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to Geneva General Hospital in Geneva, New York where he was later pronounced dead. Kenny was removed to the Monroe County Medical Examiner’s Office in Rochester, New York pending an autopsy.

Seneca County Sheriff’s deputies and investigators are being assisted by the New York State Police and Seneca County District Attorney’s Office. “Together, with the State Police we are tracking down numerous leads” said Sheriff Jack Stenberg. “We are not speculating on any possible motive at this time” continued the Sheriff.
