The Irvington Bulldogs defeated the Waterloo Indians by a score of 78-40 on Saturday in the NYS Class B Girls Basketball Championship game at Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, NY.
Irvington jumped out to an early lead, and despite a 19-7 run by Waterloo in the late second quarter into the second half, it was not enough.Coach Mike Bree's Indians shot just 29% from the field while Irvington made 49% of their shots. Waterloo committed 20 turnovers that the Bulldogs turned into 18 points.
At one point in the 3rd quarter Waterloo had pulled to within 12 points but Irvington responded with a 33-11 run to close out the game and capture the state title.
