Penn Yan (9-9) outscored Bath-Haverling 24-8 in the second half and never looked back as they came out victorious 46-31 yesterday in Section V boy’s basketball action. Penn Yan’s James Burdette led all scoring with a 14-point effort while Dan Leonard of Bath-Haverling put up10 points in the loss.
Geneva 72, Wayne 63
Geneva (17-1) topped Wayne (15-3) 72-63 yesterday in Section V boy’s basketball action. Geneva’s Shane Sweeney had a 20-point game while Jordan Donahue put up 17 points, and Akia Jackson and Junior Sims each shot for 10 total points. Wayne’s Mike Hollenbeck also had a 20-point game while teammate Tre LaMora put up 17 points and Ben Bobo added an additional 13 in the loss.
Palmyra-Macedon 78, Marcus Whitman 47
Marcus Whitman (3-15) fell to Palmyra-Macedon (6-12) 78-47 yesterday in Section V boy’s basketball action. Palmyra-Macedon led 45-25 at half and never looked back. Pal-Mac’s Cody Eckerson had a 23-point effort with 18 of which coming in the first half. Mitchell Crist had an 18-point game and Matthew Hall added an additional 13 points. Hall hit a career high three-three point shot in the win. Marcus Whitman’s Tyler Rohrback shot for 13 points, Matt Hall added 11 more points and Rhen Grover put up nine points, all of which came from three point shots.
Waterloo 60, Midlakes 57
Waterloo (4-14) edged Midlakes (3-15) 60-57 yesterday in Section V boys basketball action. Waterloo’s Thomas France led all scoring with a 20-point effort while teammate Jonathan Jones added 12 additional points. Midlakes’ Louis Price had an 18-point game and Mason Jones 17 in the eventual loss.
Bloomfield 64, HAC 46
Bloomfield (13-5) topped HAC (2-16) 64-46 yesterday in Section V boy’s basketball action.
Naples 74, Red Jacket 50
Yesterday in Section V boy’s basketball action Naples (16-2) bested Red Jacket (7-11) 74-50. Naples’ JC Kobus led all scoring with a 34-point game theat included seven three-point shots while teammate Jake Ball added another 13 points. Red Jacket’s Mike Giaconia shot for 17-points, had 13 rebounds and 13 blocks while Alex Folts shot for 10 points in the loss.
Dundee 63, Romulus-South Seneca 44
Romulus-South Seneca (0-17) continued their 17 consecutive game losing steak as they fell to Dundee (11-7) 63-44 yesterday in Section V boy’s basketball action. Ten of 12 Dundee players scored throughout the game with Justin Brace ledainf all scoring with 20 total points while Aksel Jensen put up another eight. Romulus-South Seneca’s Alex Porter and Sam Dickenson each put up nine points in the loss.
Monroe 63, North Rose-Wolcott 53
Monroe (5-13) beat North Rose-Wolcott (9-9) 63-53 yesterday in Section V boy’s basketball action. Monroe’s Trayvon Holt led all scoring with 31 total points while Sir William Rudolph shot for 18 points and had 12 rebounds and Ahmirr Ellis added 16 rebounds and 3 blocks. North Rose-Wolcott’s Chris Dean had a 24-point effort and Jake Stevenson put up 17 points with 11 rebounds in the loss.
East Rochester 49, Red Creek 35
East Rochester (9-9) bested Red Creek (3-15) 49-35 yesterday in Section V boy’s basketball action. East Rochester’s Justin Reho shot for 12 points and Austin Peterson added 11 in the win. Red Creek’s Jacob Slobe led all scoring with a 15-point game despite the loss.
Mynderse 70, Newark 56
Mynderse (13-5) topped Newark (12-6) 70-56 yesterday in Section V boy’s basketball action. Luke Ruddy of Mynderse led all scoring with a 20 point effort while Jimmy Ricci added 18 points and Brandon Passalacqua another 10. Newark’s David Stone had a 13-point game while RonDerrick Morris added another 12-points and Anthony Lombardi and Jaymee Rosser each had a 10-point game respectively in the loss.
