A child in Wayne County has died Thursday morning at a Rochester hospital from a confirmed case of Influenza B according to the Wayne County Public Health Department.
The child did previously receive a flu vaccine, however, several complications led to the death.
This is the first flu-related death in Wayne County this year and the last time a child died of the flu in Wayne County was in 2009.
There has been a sharp increase in flu cases this year. Last year, there were around 40 cases of the flu in Wayne County. So far this season, there have been around 650 cases.
