Monday night kicked off the final week of the regular season for teams in Section V and the Wayne-Finger Lakes high school basketball league. The big win of the night came from Lyons who defeated Williamson to set up a battle for the Wayne County League title on Wednesday night in Clyde-Savannah. With a win at Clyde, the Lions would earn a share of the league crown. Clyde will be playing for the outright league championship.

North Rose-Wolcott 59, East Rochester 58
North Rose-Wolcott (8-8) edged East Rochester (8-8) 59-58 yesterday in Section V boy’s basketball action. North Rose-Wolcott’s Jake Stevenson had an 18-point game while Chris Dean put up 17 points. East Rochester’s Justin Reho led all scoring with 18 total points and Tre' Miller tacked on 15 points, Phinehas Jacques chipped in an additional 13 points and finally Austin Peterson put up 10 in the loss.
Red Creek 57, Sodus 26
Yesterday in Section Vboy’s basketball action Red Creek (3-14) topped Sodus (0-16) 57-26. Red Creek’s Jacob Slobe led all scoring with 13 total points while Sean Griffin tacked on an additional 12. Matt Dodski, Ethan Durocher and Ray Sanderson all had 10-point games in the win.
Lyons 70, Williamson 38
Williamson (7-11) fell 70-38 to Lyons (14-2) yesterday in Wayne County League action. Lyons’ Devan Veeder led all scoring with a 16-point game that included four three-point shots. Tre' Johnson put up 12 total points and Damien Scott added nine. Williamson’s Tom Stephens had a 14-point game while Rufus Hall added nine points and Akeem Simon another eight in the loss.
Wayne 80, Marcus Whitman 48
Wayne (15-2) bested Marcus Whitman (3-14) 80-48 yesterday in Section V boy’s basketball action. Wayne’s Tre LaMora led all scoring with a 22-point game while Paul Dinehart and Mike Hollenbeck each put up 12-points respectively and Dave Kiersblck chipped in an additional 11. Marcus Whitman’s Devante Evans had a 13-point game while Tyler Rohrback shot for 10 points in the loss.
Pavilion 56, Romulus-South Seneca 49
Romulus-South Seneca (0-15) continued their 15 game losing streak as Pavilion (4-14) beat them yesterday 56-49 in Section V boy’s basketball action. Romulus-South Seneca’s Ty Wood led all scoring with a 25-point game and Bailey Moag added 12 points. Alex Porter of Pavilion shot for 17 total points while teammate Harry Hyde put up 8 points in the loss.
Irondequoit 68, Canandaigua 40
Irondequoit (15-2) bested Canandaigua (3-14) 68-40 yesterday in Section V boy’s basketball action. Irondequoit’s Tyler Stenglein led all scoring with an 18-point game while Kyle Napierala put up an additional 13 points and Wyatt Smith chipped in 10 more. Canandaigua’s Colin McGlynn shot for 12 points and had three rebounds; two steals and an assist while Dillon Mergenthaler had four rebounds.
