Marcus Whitman 65, Midlakes 60 OT
Marcus Whitman (3-12) went 6-for-8 in overtime yesterday in Section V boy’s basketball action as they topped Midlakes (3-12) 65-60. Marcus Whitman’s Merritt Bailey shot for nine total points and made a shot that help force overtime. His teammate John Eskind tacked on an additional 10 points, Devante Evans for 11. Rhen Grover shot for 22 points that included three three-points shots. Grover also made two free throws to help force overtime. Midlakes’ Mason Jones led all scoring with 30 total points that included eight three-point shots while teammate Jacob Kemp added 11 more points in the loss.

Newark 58, Palmyra-Macedon 54
Newark (11-4) edged Palmyra-Macedon (5-10) 58-54 yesterday in Section V boy’s basketball action. Anthony Lombardi of Newark had a 15-point game while RonDerrick Morris added 13 additional points. Jaymee Rosser made the game-clinching free throws with :05 seconds left in regulation. Palmyra-Macedon’s Mitchell Crist and Jonathan VanKouwenberg each had an 11-point game in the loss.

Geneva 65, Penn Yan 52
Geneva (14-1) beat Penn Yan (7-8) yesterday in Section V boy’s basketball action. Shane Sweeney of Geneva led all scoring with a 20-point game while Akia Jackson shot for 14 points. Penn Yan’s Ben Covert had a 17-point game while teammate James Burdette added 12 points in the loss

Mynderse 69, Waterloo 40
Mynderse (10-5) bested Waterloo (2-13) 69-40 yesterday in Section V boy’s basketball action. Mynderse’s Jason Anderson shot for 4 points with five assists and six steals while Connor Miller added another 12 points with seven rebounds and Brandon Passalacqua shot for 10 points with eight assists. Luke Ruddy led all scoring with 24 points and had 12 rebounds. Waterloo’s Brad Steinruck shot for 14 points while Nick Stenberg added 12 in the loss.
