Yesterday in boy’s Section V basketball action Wayne (12-1) topped Midlakes (2-10) 79-42. Ben Bobo and Paul Dinehart of Wayne each had an 11-point game while teammate Tre LaMora led all scoring with 21 total points. Alex Phillips had eight rebounds in the win. Midlakes’ Mason Jones had a 16-point game in the eventual loss.
Geneva 64, Mynderse 42
Geneva (12-0) beat Mynderse (8-5) 64-42 yesterday in Section V boy’s basketball action. Geneva’s Terrell Johnson had an 11-point game with 10 rebounds and five assists while Junior Sims added nine points and Shane Sweeney 18. Mynderse’s Brandon Passalacqua shot for 16 tota; points and Luke Ruddy for 15 in the loss.
Penn Yan 51, Palmyra-Macedon 49
In an exciting end Penn Yan (6-6) edged Palmyra-Macedon (4-8) 51-49 yesterday in Section V boy’s basketball action. Penn Yan’s Corey Grace nailed a layup with eight seconds remaining in the game for the win. James Burdette led all scoring with a 17-point game. Palmyra-Macedon’s Mitchell Crist had a 16-point game that included four three-point shots.
Marcus Whitman 65, Waterloo 62
Marcus Whitman (2-10) slipped by Waterloo (2-10) 65-62 yesterday in Section V boy’s basketball action. Marcus Whitman’s Merritt Bailey and Tyler Rohrback each shot for nine points while Rhen Grover chipped in 11 and Matt Hall 13 in the win. Brad Steinruck of Waterloo led all scoring with 19 total points. His teammates Thomas France had a 14-point game and Jonathan Jones for 10 in the loss.
Bloomfield 70, Red Jacket 62
Yesterday in boy’s Section V basketball action Bloomfield (7-4) topped Red Jacket (5-7) 70-62. Brian Dulen of Bloomfield had a 12-point game with 13 rebounds while his teammate Sean Fitzgerald led all scoring with 24 points. Alex Flattery chipped in 16 points and 13 rebounds in the win. Dominic Vazquz led Red Jacket’s scoring charge with 18-points. Alex Folts chipped in 12 points and Mike Giaconia added 10 points with nine rebounds and 10 blocks.
Caledonia-Mumford 66, Gananda 53
Caledonia-Mumford (12-1) topped Gananda (7-6) 66-53 yesterday in Section V boy’s basketball action. S Caledonia-Mumford’s Steve Gaffney led all scoring with 20 total points while teammate Kyle Kline chipped in 14 points and Will Van Auken another 10. Gananda’s Kameron Gray had a 16-point game and Chase Reeves shot for 10 points in the loss.
Rush-Henrietta 65, Victor 45
Rush-Henrietta (6-6) topped Victor (0-13) 65-45 yesterday in Section V boy’s basketball action. Danny Drummond of Rush-Henrietta had a 10-point game with 10 rebounds while Emett Peters tacked on another 19 points and 14 rebounds in the win. Victor’s Luis Rivera had a 12-point game respectively in the loss.
HF-L 53, Canandaigua 43
Yesterday in Section V boy’s basketball action HF-L (6-8) beat Canandaigua (3-11) 53-43. HF-L’s Jake Apthorpe had a 14-point game that included 13 rebounds while teammate Alex Obenhofer chipped in 11 points and Andrew Wager another 12. Canandaigua’s Ian Brown shot for 11 points and Sean Outhouse for nine in the loss.
Lyons 50, East Rochester 38
Lyons (11-1) topped East Rochester (6-7) 50-38 yesterday in Section V boy’s basketball action. Lyon’s DJ Long had a 12-point game with 10 rebounds and two blocks. East Rochester’s Justin Reho shot for 11 points in the loss.
Clyde-Savannah 59, North Rose-Wolcott 27
Yesterday in Section V boy’s basketball action North Rose-Wolcott (4-7) fell to Clyde-Savannah (12-1) 59-27. Clyde-Savannah’s Tom Kanaley shot for 18 total points while Kam DiSanto tacked on 12 points with eight rebounds and four blocks.
Williamson 55, Red Creek 46
Williamson (6-7) edged Red Creek (2-11) 59-46 yesterday in Section V boy’s basketball action. Stevie Thomson led all scoring with 24 total points while Tom Stephens tacked on another 19. Jacob Slobe led the scoring charge for Red Creek with 21 total points and Ethan Durocher shot for 14 points in the loss.
