Wow, it’s the LAST market of 2012! And we have had great fall weather to enjoy the market in People’s Park, so come down for one last hurrah and buy all the local produce you can to freeze or preserve so you can enjoy them in the next few cold, winter months. Can some tomatoes or make sauce, cut up and freeze green peppers to enjoy in soups and stews this winter, make applesauce and freeze it and buy potatoes and squash to store in your cellar or other cool, dark place for enjoyment later.

Then wander over and buy fresh cut flowers for your table or potted mums and pumpkins to decorate for winter. Buy a loaf of fresh baked specialty breads or sweet breads to serve this weekend or cookies to send in kids lunches. And for yourself…pumpkin whoopee pies! And don’t forget fresh local cheeses and meats to buy for the holidays. Well, you get the idea! So come on down and enjoy a warm fall day at the Seneca Fall’s Farmers Market in People’s Park.

Last chance for food stamps recipients to get a FREE $2 coupon to spend on any food stamp eligible item at the market. For every $5 of EBT coins purchased, food stamp recipients will receive a free $2 coupon. So if you ask for $15 from your EBT card, you would receive $6 in coupons to use. That’s a lot of free fruit, vegetables, baked goods, eggs, goat milk, cheese or meat.

Seneca County CCE will be there with a new recipe and senior WIC Farmers Market Nutrition Program coupons are accepted by all produce vendors, so come and spend them now before it’s too late.

Dave & Rita’s Farm Market will be there again serving up a hearty, delicious lunch. Last week they had pulled pork sandwiches and delicious mac and cheese! Stop by to see what they have put together this week!

Vendors will be set up from 9AM to 1:30PM with fresh baked breads, cookies, macaroons, pastries, cakes and granola, farm fresh eggs, cheese from 5 local creameries, potted plants, hand-crafted jewelry, heirloom lavender in vintage linen sachets, chemical free chicken, duck and lamb, goat milk, yogurt and cheese and even handmade chairs!

Talk to the people who grow and produce the items you buy. Come and learn where your food comes from, from the people who know!

Thank you to the Town of Seneca Falls and the Seneca Falls Recreation Department for their support of the market. We couldn’t do it without them!

See you at the Park! Rain or shine! And as we say good-bye to our vendors for the winter, we will be looking forward to spring so we can meet in the park and enjoy local produce once again!
