Seneca County Sheriff's Investigators are investigating the death of an infant child. On Friday, 09/14/12 Seneca County E-911 received a report of a child not breathing in the Town of Romulus. South Seneca Ambulance and Romulus Fire Department rescue arrived and found one year old Dieter Tackett II, not breathing and began rescue efforts.
The infant was transported to Geneva General Hospital and later transported to the pediatric intensive care unit at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. The infant died later that evening. The cause of the infant's death is still under investigation.
Sheriff's Investigators are currently working with the Monroe County Medical Examiners office and are awaiting autopsy and toxicology results. The preliminary investigation did not show any evidence of physical trauma.
At least one news organization is reporting the death due to alcohol poisoning; however, we have no credible evidence to support such a report. Anyone with information relating to this case is asked to contact Inv. Joe Stevens at (315)521-3550.
