A woman jailed in Broome County died just 24 hours after arriving, following a sudden medical emergency, according to WIVT.
Chelsey Davis, 38, was booked into the jail on October 8 and housed in the facility’s Medical Unit after a standard health screening. Jail staff checked on her twice more, reporting no signs of distress.
Roughly 20 minutes after her last checkup, she suffered a medical emergency. Staff performed CPR and used an AED but couldn’t revive her. An autopsy was completed October 9, but full results are still pending. A full investigation is underway involving the state Attorney General’s Office and Commission on Corrections.
